Character Background: Effy is somewhat loosely based off of Effy from August Bournonville's romantic ballet La Sylphide. Her storyline is a modern, psychologicalized interpretation of the story in the original ballet, with the focus shifted from the relationship between James (male) and the Sylph, to the relationship between James (female) and Effy. Beyond the most basic parts of the interaction between the three - James, the Sylph and Effy - very little remains in terms of the original character gallery and as a result, I find it fair to consider the story original, rather than canon-based.

Effy's storyline features the implications of mental illness, James' situation treated like a disorder, though it is unclear whether there was actually a hint of reality to the experiences she (and through her, Effy) had with the Sylph. I know this subject may make some uncomfortable and to counteract this, I'm putting up this permissions post. This is where you can leave a comment if you 1) don't wish to have any CR with Effy or 2) don't want Effy to mention James around your character(s). I'll be completely understanding, whatever the case. All comments are screened.

Nancy meets her at the staff entrance, under the clear, cloudless sky, singing September’s sky is so blue… Effy smiles. Sings along, just the first couple of lines, so familiar on her tongue. They chat about the weather, the sunshine and all the colours of autumn that they are missing out on, committed to the mirror-filled rehearsal rooms like this. Devoted to their attitudes and their battements.

Later, Effy gets home and the sun has set, the sky dark as a result and the apartment even darker, because James left hours earlier without shedding any light on her own disappearance.
